Poor support

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - There was enrollment misinformation.
  • - Meds were not covered despite enrollment.
  • - The Care Mark rep was on hold 35 minutes and hung up.

Misinformation regarding enrollment in a required program. Despite confirmation of enrollment from a program representative, they still refused to cover meds.

Care Mark representative was ineffective - after numerous times on hold, she hung up on me after 35 minutes. Six days out. No resolution, no communication, no ownership from them.

Definitely not patient-centered care - and complete disregard for the impact on the member! Wish I could rate zero.

Pros:
  • Retail environment -
Cons:
  • Not patients centered or customer service focused

User's recommendation: Go elsewhere if it’s an option.

Resolved: Problemfixed

Updated by user May 01, 2026

CVS Caremark did nothing wrong--it wasn't their fault. I had to get a new credit card to replace the one that I had.

But it took too long to get the new card, so in the meantime the old card was put through and declined. By the next day the new card finally arrived, so I called CVS Caremark and explained that they just needed to to try again using the new card number that I gave them. They put my prescription right through, and so far there have been no problems.

None of the problem was a fault of the CVS staff. It's just one of those things that happens when a credit card has been hacked and then a new card has to replace the old one.I'd say that CVS Caremark does a great job.

Original review Apr 15, 2026

It was fine. The credit card that I had been using had been declined because it was no longer valid.

I gave her the new credit card information that I am now using. I haven't seen the medication that had been declined put through yet, but I'm sure it will be very soon.

As long as it's sent by the next couple of weeks it should be fine. It was very helpful.

CVS Caremark Mail Order Horrible Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - They email a delivery date while the prescription is on hold.
  • - A letter says hold, though you want it filled, and you waited 6 days.

They will send you an email telling you that they are working on your prescription, include an estimated delivery date and also send you a letter (same date as the email) telling you that the medication is on hold per your request, even though you have spoken to them and informed them that you want that prescription filled and not held. You've waited 6 days thinking your prescription is on the way only to learn that it is not.

And, if there is a problem with a particular prescription and they have to reach out to the Doctor for a new prescription, the prescription is going to be placed on HOLD AGAIN even though you've requested that it be filled.

Once you place a Hold on them automatically refilling your prescriptions, you cannot have your account annotated to fill a specific prescription once the new prescription is received from the doctor. I only deal with them because it is cheaper than the Retail price.

User's recommendation: If the cost of your prescription is the same in store (Retail) as Mail Order, don't even think about Mail Order.

A mail order pharmacy should not have to contact a doctor for a new prescription. Why is your prescription running out before your next appointment and/or why isn’t your doctor not providing enough refills until that time?

It is nice that Caremark contacts the doctor, but you create your own headache by not ensuring enough refills.

PS, your prescription label shows remaining refills. Why not be responsible and call the doctor yourself.

Have tried repeatedly to correct mailing address and they still use the old one. Very poor customer service! Maybe these are the corners they cut so they Avoidcan price low to the plan sponsors?

Need refill asap

AI Highlights
  • - No refill received for amlodipine, a blood pressure pill.
  • - CVS said to contact this service; patient is without pills for 5 days and needs a refill.

I never got a refill for my amlodipine. I think it is blood pressure pill.

I didn't know how to get the refill. I went to CVS and they told me they really didn't have anything to do with it that I had to call here. But I really need this.

I haven't had my pills in 5 days. I was wondering how I could get the prescription refilled?

Carefirst/Caremark covers basically nothing for astronomical premiums each month and is in bed with CVS. Find another coverage!

User's recommendation: Find another prescription plan and don’t use a health care plan that uses Caremark

Very poor service

AI Highlights
  • - Constant delays and inaccurate information from Caremark.
  • - My doctor contacted Caremark several times; delays persisted.

Constant delays. Inaccurate information.

Totally inept. My doctor contacted Caremark several times on the issue in question. They kept stating that they were waiting on my doctor. Then came the email stating that they had indeed received the information from my doctor.

So now it's several days (weeks) down the road and caremark is back to "we need the information from your doctor".

Spoke to a supervisor with the same result. Please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

User's recommendation: Stay clear. Way to much trouble.

Caremark is way better than OptumRX. I can't even login Optum's website.

I never had this much issue with Caremark like I'm having with OptumRX. Thank you Caremark for your great service.

User's recommendation: I choose Caremark over OptumRX

Who should decide if you need a prescription CVS or a DOCTOR?

AI Highlights
  • - Prescription due back to the doctor in 2 days, but 5 business days were stated.
  • - CVS denied it and said the doctor must explain why it's needed.

I was given a prescription which I needed to take back to the doctor in 2 days. I was told it would take 5 business days.

Thats the best you can do? No good! Then cvs denys it. Called experimental.

Then cvs tells me call the drs office and have them call cvs to explain why I need it. Why do I need to do your job? You call them. That is your job or the doctors office staff.

You can get thru faster to the drs office! Quit acting like a pharmacy should determine what medication I should get!
