Caremark decided they needed a prior authorization in order to give credit for a prescription renewal towards the deductible. I found out when I went to pick it up.

I could buy it but no credit towards annual deductible. Their own policy is to advise the consumer via a letter. They admitted they did not follow their policy. They require the doctor to complete more forms, then claim the doctor didn't do it correctly and close the case.

If you want to keep track you have to follow along on their website. One week later they close the case and start all over.

They continue to blame the doctor. The doctor says otherwise. So they wear you down with complexity and bureaucracy.

Then they will report to the company how much money they save on prescription processing.

The strategy is to make it so hard for the consumer and provider that they will throw in the towel - Caremark will call it a successful business, cost saving, strategy. I call it pick pocket.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.
